New Release: Lazarus Planet: Omega

There are at least 11 different covers for this week's Lazarus Planet: Omega, but only one of those is any good because it's the only one with Booster Gold on it.

This one.

The issue preview at AIPTComics.com doesn't give any hint whether we'll actually see any Booster inside the book, so this cover may be all we get.

UPDATE 2023-02-21 Part 1: Yep, this is a cover-only appearance.

And we'd better enjoy it, Booster boosters, because AIPT also has the complete list of DC's May 2023 solicitations. For the third month in a row, there's no sign of any new Booster Gold adventures, just reprints like DC All Out War: Part 1 and the DCeased Box Set.

Surely this is a short-term problem, right? DC wouldn't announce a Booster Gold television show then put our hero in mothballs, would they? Would they!?

(Although, come to think of it, DC also announced a show for the Creature Commandos who haven't been in a whole bunch of comic book appearances recently... or ever, really. So yeah, they would.)

Regardless of what the future will bring, buy the David Marquez & Alejandro Sanchez cover of Lazarus Planet: Omega and make Skeets happy.

UPDATE 2023-02-21 Part 2: As Marty tells us via email, Booster Gold also plays a small part in this week's Superman: Space Age. Thanks, Marty!

New Releases: Everything

If you buy a new DC Comic this week, congratulations! You've struck Gold!

...Because Booster appears twice(!) in the line-wide house ad for the final chapters of the "game-changing two-month epic" Lazarus Planet series.

I expect we'll find out just how much Lazarus Planet changes the game for Booster Gold when Lazarus Planet Omega arrives at Local Comic Shops on February 21.

Year in Review 2022

Here, for your nostalgic end-of-year reading enjoyment, are the 5 most-read Boosterrific.com blog posts of 2022:

5. Friday, September 4: My Favorite Pages: Booster Gold 8
In which we take a look at my favorite page of Booster Gold's maiden flight from Booster Gold Volume 1, #8, which not coincidentally was also the original homepage image map for Boosterrific.com when the site launched in 2007. (Fifteen years of Boosterrific.com? Could that be possible?)

4. Monday, August 29: I Did Not Steal This Gif
In which we admire an animated gif of Joe Carlo's Funko digital Blue and Gold epic Non-Fungible Token.

3. Wednesday, August 24: Teen Titans Speak!
In which we talk about hearing Booster Gold speak for the first time in the seventh season of Teen Titans GO!. To actually hear Booster Gold speak (or, more accurately, hear Fred Tatasciore speak as Booster Gold), you'll have to visit CartoonNetwork.com.

2. Wednesday, November 23: Coming Soon: Lazarus Planet Omega
In which we reveal Booster Gold on the David Marquez cover to the final issue of DC's first 2023 event series, Lazarus Planet: Omega #1, expected to arrive in your Local Comic Shop this February 21.

1. Wednesday, January 27: New Release: Human Target 4
In which we read other people talking about Booster Gold in Human Target #4, a book Booster doesn't actually appear in. Nearly a year later, we're still waiting for issue #10 of that 12-issue mini-series. Originally solicited for a December 27 release, the book and its Booster Gold-including alternate cover is now scheduled for January 10. Better late than never!

Here's to another Boosterrific year in 2023!

Coming Soon: Lazarus Planet Omega

DC's February 2023 solicitations were released last week, and it appears that Booster Gold will play some role in the eight-issue "Lazarus Planet" event first announced back at New York Comic Con.

Or, at least, he'll be on the David Marquez cover to Lazarus Planet: Omega #1:

Given that A) Omega is the final book in the event, B) none of the solicitations or promotions otherwise mention him, and C) our hero is usually backgrounded in these sorts of big event stories, I don't have much hope that Booster will be playing a big role in this event.

But maybe I'm wrong. I sure hope I am. We'll certainly find out when Lazarus Planet: Omega comes our way on February 21.

Meanwhile, you can read more about Lazarus Planet and all other DC comics coming in February at GamesRadar.com.
